Meet them where they are, not where you want them to be

When someone with Alzheimer’s becomes confused about who you are or where they live, don’t argue or correct them. If my dad said he needed to go home while sitting in his own living room, I’d say, “We’ve got a really nice room for you right here,” and give a mini-tour. Fighting reality only increases their agitation.
